Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update – Thursday 23rd April 2020

You will be aware that all of our homes are not open to relatives for general visiting, but we want to update you all on visiting arrangements should your loved one become acutely unwell or towards their final days of life.

We will allow up to 2 relatives at any time to visit subject to the following conditions:

  • Hands must be washed before coming into the Home
  • Temperature must be taken by the nurse/ senior before coming into the main home and this must be below 37.8 C
  • Relatives must be open and honest and inform the Home if they have been isolating or symptomatic in the previous 14 days.
  • Agree to wearing the appropriate PPE during the visit dependent on whether their relative is symptomatic or not at the time of the visit. For residents who are not symptomatic of the virus we would ask that they wear a surgical mask only.

I trust you all understand that we are working as hard as we can to keep everyone as safe as possible.

You will also be fully aware of the recent press coverage in relation to care homes.

Our teams will keep you updated should your loved one show any signs of covid-19. We will contact the GP to inform them too. The local HPC team may arrange for testing whereby they attend the home to take the swab test. In some areas, our nurses are being trained to take swab tests from symptomatic residents.

We will inform the family of the resident affected when the swab has been taken and the result of the test once it has been received. At all times our residents and staff remain our primary focus and we will continue to keep you updated with any changes to our practices.
