Business Support Manager – Hatton Court Nursing Home – Telford 

£16 – £24 (Price depends on experience and a clinical qualifications)

Springcare have a new exciting opportunity for a new Business support manager to join the team at Hatton Court . The role purpose is to positively support Heads of Department and work in Partnership with the Registered Clinical Manager to deliver a consistently improving customer focused service that meets budgetary and legislative guidelines whilst being accountable for the development of the reputation, business sustainability and financial viability of the home.


Responsibilities: (full list can be seen in job description)


To be accountable for the smooth operation of the home in accordance with Springcare policies, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and other legislation directly affecting the home and its residents.

To be responsible for the management of the budget, controlling the use of resources, effectively marketing the home, and maintaining occupancy.

  1. To be accountable for the monitoring of competitor activity and informing the Operations Manager of changes that may be required to the business plan.
  2. To be accountable for the effective recruitment, supervision, and training of staff in accordance with Springcare Equal Opportunities and other Human Resources policies.
  3. Actively work to continually maintain and improve the service using a service improvement plan as a primary tool for monitoring and checking progress.
  4. Ensure compliance with Environmental Health Office by monitoring hygiene health and safety requirements and take effective action.
  5. To network within the local community raising the profile of care home
  6. To undertake on-call duties as required.
  7.  To cover shifts as required in staffing emergency.
  8. To assist the Registered Clinical Manager to develop and deliver the service, based on customer needs and expectations.
  9. Oversee effective management of the staff rota to maximise efficiency of staff remuneration. Ensuring compliance with staffing levels in line with resident dependency levels.
  10. To ensure there is an effective supervision and Appraisal system in place for all staff. To deliver Supervisions to staff which are not directly related to clinical practice.
  11. Control and monitor budget expenditure for each department or seek approval for any variance from budget.
  12. Responsibility for minimising excess payroll costs; agency, and salary overpayments
  13. Maximise the development of occupancy and the average weekly fee.  In conjunction with the customer liaison manager.
  14. Establish excellent collaborative relationships with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies, in the public, other private and voluntary sectors.
  15. Identify potential business opportunities/opportunities to maximise fees by using knowledge of local market developments, emerging customer needs and competitor activity.




  1. Proven Home Management experience
  2. Experience of managing a budget and working to a Business Plan.
  3. Experience of working with and empathising with older people.
  4. Full understanding of the CQC Standards for Care Homes for older people and their impact in care and management practice.
  5. Current knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and application of Health and Safety practice.
  6. Experience in the management, development and recruitment of staff including handling conflict, disciplinary action etc.
  7. Effective use of staff resources, including Springcare support services.
  8. Demonstrate awareness of different values/cultures amongst residents and staff.
  9. Knowledge of Equal Opportunities and employment legislation.
  10. Uses IT skills effectively to meet the demands of own workload and seeks to maximise the use of IT systems to enhance service delivery in future.
